Abu Dhabi: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly made an unannounced visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to a British news agency, a senior Israeli official said Netanyahu arrived in Abu Dhabi on Sunday morning aboard a private aircraft, spent most of the day there, and returned to Israel later the same day.
Media reports said the meeting took place against the backdrop of relations between Israel and the UAE following the recent conflict with Iran. Neither Netanyahu’s office nor the UAE Foreign Ministry immediately commented on the reports.
Reports also said that during the conflict with Iran, Israel had temporarily provided the UAE with Iron Dome air-defense systems and Israeli personnel to operate them.
